New York Mayor Condemns U.S. Military Detention of Venezuelan President Maduro as Unilateral and Violation of Federal Law

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, New York Mayor Zaharan Mammadani has strongly criticized the U.S. military’s detention of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, describing it as an unlawful abduction. In a post on his official Twitter account, Mammadani stated that he was informed this morning about the military operation targeting Maduro, which included plans to imprison the Venezuelan leader and his spouse in a federal detention facility in New York City.
The mayor emphasized that such a unilateral attack on a sovereign nation constitutes an act of war and violates both U.S. federal and international laws. He warned that this overt attempt at regime change would not only overshadow developments outside the U.S. but also directly impact New York residents, including tens of thousands of Venezuelans who consider the city their home.
Mammadani concluded by affirming his commitment to ensuring the safety of Venezuelans and all New York citizens, stating that local authorities would continue monitoring the situation and issuing necessary guidelines.
