Iraqi PM Al-Sudani Honors Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, Stresses Their Anti-Terrorism Role

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani emphasized the undeniable contributions of martyrs Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis in the fight against terrorism during a ceremony honoring the ‘Commanders of Victory.’ The event marked six years since their assassination in a targeted strike at Baghdad International Airport, which Al-Sudani described as a blatant violation of international law due to its targeting of a non-military site.
Al-Sudani highlighted that the sacrifices of these leaders were instrumental in securing victory against terrorism, with Al-Muhandis dedicating everything to Iraq without discrimination among its citizens. He also underscored Soleimani’s unparalleled support, noting that his martyrdom on Iraqi soil marked the culmination of a life devoted to regional stability. The Prime Minister further announced Iraq’s government has ended the international coalition’s presence and is prepared to assume full control of the Ain Al-Asad airbase.
Addressing domestic sovereignty, Al-Sudani reiterated the necessity of state monopoly over arms, a stance supported by religious authorities, framing it as a measure to reinforce Iraq’s independence and security.
