Austria Allocates $1 Million in Aid for Returning Afghan Migrants

Austria has pledged $1 million to support Afghan migrants returning to their homeland, with the UNHCR highlighting the aid’s potential to improve conditions for returnees.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Austria has allocated $1 million in humanitarian aid to assist Afghan migrants returning from other countries. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) stated that the funding will help improve conditions for returnees reintegrating into Afghan society.

Western nations are actively facilitating the return of Afghan migrants through financial assistance and free flight services. UN data reveals over four million Afghans have returned to their homeland, with 2.8 million arrivals recorded in 2025 alone.

The UN estimates approximately 22 million people in Afghanistan will require humanitarian assistance this year. The organization has called for $1.7 billion in funding to address the basic needs of vulnerable populations across the country.
