Dozens of Israeli Settlers Enter Al-Aqsa Mosque Amid Rising Tensions

Palestinian sources report over 80 Israeli settlers entered Al-Aqsa Mosque, performing Talmudic rituals, as tensions escalate in occupied East Jerusalem.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Palestinian sources have reported a surge in incursions by Israeli settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque, with more than 80 settlers entering the holy site since early morning to perform Talmudic ceremonies. The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs condemned the incursions, stating they are part of a broader policy aimed at normalizing Jewish religious presence at Al-Aqsa. The ministry highlighted the settlers’ collective Talmudic prayers and widespread use of religious attire as part of these efforts.

The ministry’s statement revealed that in December alone, settlers, under police protection, stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque 27 times in the occupied Palestinian territories. Additionally, Israeli authorities prevented the call to prayer at the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron 53 times. The eastern section of Al-Aqsa, particularly near Bab al-Rahma, has become a focal point for settler prayers.

Further, the statement noted that loud and provocative ceremonies were held at the Western Wall plaza during the start of the Hebrew month and Hanukkah celebrations. These violations occurred under the supervision and protection of Israeli police, who also obstructed the duties of Al-Aqsa Mosque guards affiliated with the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf.

The ministry condemned the settlers’ actions and called on Palestinians to increase their presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque during prayer times and other occasions to safeguard the sites.
