Clashes Escalate Between QSD Forces and Joulani-Linked Groups in Syria
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Syrian regime’s self-proclaimed President Abu Mohammad al-Joulani announced that a drone strike by the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) targeted a police checkpoint in the outskirts of Deir Hafir, east of Aleppo, wounding three military personnel. Media outlets affiliated with Joulani also reported six civilians injured in the attack.
The Joulani-led defense ministry vowed a full-scale military response to the assault. In recent months, sporadic clashes between QSD and Joulani-aligned groups have intensified in eastern Aleppo and Deir al-Zor, resulting in reciprocal airstrikes, drone attacks, and significant civilian and military casualties, alongside damage to local infrastructure.
A March 10 agreement between Joulani’s faction and QSD aimed to establish a framework for political and security dialogue while reducing tensions in northern and eastern Syria. The deal focused on ceasing field hostilities, initiating talks on merging military and administrative structures, and preserving Syria’s territorial integrity. However, disputes over implementation and QSD’s ties to foreign actors have hindered progress.
