Trump Claims Venezuela Elections Won’t Occur Within 30 Days, Stresses Need for Political and Economic Reforms

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that Venezuela will not conduct elections within the next 30 days, stressing that political and economic reforms must precede any electoral process. In an interview with NBC, Trump claimed Washington is not currently at war with Venezuela but indicated the U.S. might support efforts to rebuild the country’s energy infrastructure.
Trump highlighted that a group of U.S. officials will oversee a transitional phase in Venezuela, which he estimated could last up to 18 months. He credited the recent ousting of President Nicolás Maduro to internal efforts, denying direct U.S. involvement in the operation. However, reports confirm that U.S. forces unlawfully entered Venezuelan territory to extract Maduro, an action that has drawn mixed global reactions.
While some governments have framed the intervention as a move against corruption and drug trafficking, others have condemned it as a violation of Venezuela’s sovereignty and international law. The unprecedented operation has sparked widespread debate over the legitimacy of foreign intervention in domestic political crises.
