Citing a US State Department official, the report confirmed that work is underway to reopen Washington’s diplomatic mission in the Venezuelan capital. The source emphasized that no final decision has been made regarding the embassy’s reactivation and that full diplomatic operations would not resume for several months.

The US State Department had announced the closure of its Caracas embassy in mid-March 2019 amid escalating tensions between the two nations.
