US and Venezuela Engage in Talks Over Oil Exports Amid Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuelan and American officials are currently engaged in discussions regarding the export of Venezuelan crude oil to the United States. This development follows reports from Reuters, citing government and shipping sources, indicating a potential shift in bilateral relations despite ongoing tensions.
Political magazine Politico reported on Sunday that the Trump administration has recently contacted US oil companies whose assets were seized by the Venezuelan government decades ago. The administration has urged these companies to make substantial investments in Venezuela if they seek compensation for their confiscated properties.
Energy sector sources told Politico that the Trump administration’s message has caused concern among oil companies, as reviving Venezuela’s oil fields presents significant challenges. The country’s infrastructure has deteriorated due to years of underinvestment and mismanagement.
On Saturday, US President Donald Trump claimed that the United States successfully carried out a large-scale operation against Venezuela, alleging the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. This action has drawn widespread international condemnation, with many nations denouncing it as a violation of international law.
