Syrian Aleppo Hit by SDF Attacks: 5 Killed, 21 Wounded Amid Escalation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Syrian media, citing Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, reported that residential neighborhoods in the Al-Midan district of Aleppo, northern Syria, were struck by artillery shelling and drone attacks. A child was killed and another injured in the assault.
An SDF suicide drone also targeted a fuel station in the Al-Sulaymaniyah area. Local sources confirmed that residents of Nile Street and surrounding areas evacuated their homes due to escalating attacks, relocating to safer zones.
In a separate SDF drone strike on Syrian army positions in Aleppo, one soldier was killed and five others wounded. The Syrian military stated that its units retaliated by striking the launch sites of SDF missiles and drones, destroying several drones and an ammunition depot belonging to the group.
Syrian officials emphasized that the SDF’s actions demonstrate its disregard for the March 10, 2025 agreement, accusing the group of attempting to escalate tensions toward broader conflict. Aleppo’s governor warned citizens to avoid central areas and gatherings due to heightened insecurity.
In response to the violence, Syrian authorities announced the closure of schools, universities, and government offices in Aleppo on Wednesday. These developments follow recent inconclusive talks between the Syrian government and SDF representatives in Damascus.
The Syrian government has accused the SDF of delaying the implementation of agreements on civil and military integration, reopening border passages, and upholding Syria’s territorial integrity.
