White House Confirms Trump’s Push for Greenland Annexation as National Security Priority

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the White House issued a statement confirming President Donald Trump’s emphasis on the annexation of Greenland as a top national security priority for the United States. A U.S. official asserted that the issue of acquiring Greenland “will not be removed from the agenda,” with Trump determined to secure an agreement despite resistance from NATO leaders.
The official added that the U.S. president and his advisors are exploring options, including purchasing the territory from Denmark or signing a free-association agreement with the island. These remarks follow reports that the U.S. abducted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Saturday, with Trump threatening to pursue the acquisition of other countries, including Greenland.
The Wall Street Journal reported on May 7, 2025, that the Trump administration has intensified efforts to gather intelligence related to Greenland. The U.S. views the island as strategically vital due to its Arctic location, which enhances the monitoring of Russian and Chinese military activities. Additionally, Greenland’s abundant natural resources, such as oil, gas, and minerals, further elevate its significance.
