Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council Denies Reports of Al-Zubaidi’s Escape Amid Saudi Airstrikes

The Southern Transitional Council of Yemen has denied claims that its leader Aidarous Al-Zubaidi fled Aden, asserting he remains in control of military operations as Saudi airstrikes kill civilians in Dhale.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Southern Transitional Council (STC) of Yemen has refuted reports that its president, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, fled the country. In an official statement, the STC confirmed that Al-Zubaidi continues to oversee security and military operations from Aden.

The council also revealed it has lost contact with its delegation in Saudi Arabia, complicating coordination efforts after the team’s recent arrival in Riyadh. No official information about their whereabouts or status has been released.

The STC emphasized its commitment to political dialogue initiatives while expressing shock over Saudi-led coalition airstrikes in Dhale province that killed civilians. Saudi authorities had earlier claimed Al-Zubaidi escaped to an unknown location following approximately 15 airstrikes in Zubaid, which left over 25 casualties including women and children.

Hani Bin Breik, the Emirati-aligned STC vice president, accused Saudi Arabia of betrayal and war crimes, alleging Riyadh targeted both Transitional Council leaders and civilians with ‘terrorist tools.’ He warned these actions would strengthen southern Yemen’s resistance.
