Zionist General Acknowledges Iran’s Role in Strengthening Resistance Amid Regional Shifts

A retired Israeli military official warns that Iran’s strategic investments and regional alliances are bolstering resistance groups, leaving Tel Aviv unprepared for long-term challenges.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a recent article in the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz, authored by Isaac Brik, a retired Israeli general and former military ombudsman, highlights the growing challenges faced by Israel in countering resistance groups in Lebanon and Palestine. Brik asserts that Tehran’s substantial investments, coupled with Qatar and Turkey’s involvement in Gaza, have created a reality where Palestinian armed groups recover politically and economically even during conflicts.

Brik criticized Israeli political and military leaders for their ‘voluntary blindness,’ emphasizing their focus on short-term gains while ignoring the complex strategic reality. He warned that without a shift in mindset, Israel risks facing another major surprise, potentially reaching a point of no return. ‘True security is not measured by yesterday’s offensive capabilities but by our ability to prevent the enemy’s reconstruction for tomorrow,’ he stated.

The article further notes that operational successes, however painful for the enemy, do not necessarily indicate strategic change. Many mistakenly view the elimination of leaders or destruction of infrastructure as decisive victories, but these achievements are often temporary. Brik attributed this structural flaw in assessment to underestimating the enemy’s resilience, which operates silently and powerfully underground.

Brik also expressed concern over Iran’s military advancements, particularly with China’s involvement in enhancing Iran’s missile systems, granting the ‘Axis of Resistance’ technological and logistical depth. Additionally, he pointed to Turkey’s growing role and the Trump administration’s alignment with Qatar and Ankara as factors eroding Israel’s special status in Washington. The approval of F-35 sales and nuclear technology to regional countries, he argued, could trigger an arms race, threatening Israel’s qualitative military edge.

The general concluded that the negative trajectory resulting from overlooked political and military developments now outweighs temporary operational gains, signaling a deteriorating security situation for Israel.
