Turkey’s Erdogan Denies Receiving US Proposal to Grant Asylum to Venezuela’s Maduro

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has firmly denied receiving any proposal or request from the United States to grant asylum to Venezuela’s deposed president, Nicolas Maduro. This statement comes after some US officials alleged that Turkey was among the suggested safe destinations for Maduro’s exit.
Erdogan emphasized that no information or communication regarding such a proposal had reached his government. The denial follows claims by hardline Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, who asserted that Maduro had the option to flee to Turkey but refused, leading to his current imprisonment due to miscalculations about Trump.
The situation has sparked domestic criticism in Turkey, with Erdogan and other senior officials facing backlash for their response to Maduro’s alleged abduction by the US. The Turkish Foreign Ministry, while not condemning the incident, has called for restraint from both parties involved.
