Protests Erupt in US Against Immigration Police Over Fatal Shooting of Migrant Woman

Demonstrators in Michigan condemned the fatal shooting of a migrant woman by immigration officers, demanding the removal of federal immigration forces from the state, while Senator Gary Peters called the incident ‘horrific and avoidable.’

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, protests have broken out in the US following the fatal shooting of a migrant woman by immigration officers. Demonstrators gathered outside the local Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Michigan, condemning the use of lethal force and calling for the withdrawal of federal immigration agents from the state.

Senator Gary Peters, a Michigan Democrat, described the shooting as ‘horrific and avoidable,’ accusing the Department of Homeland Security of spreading falsehoods about the incident. ‘When the government can label anyone a terrorist, every American’s life is at risk,’ he warned.

The incident occurred during a large-scale immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis, where a driver was fatally shot by an ICE agent. US media reports indicate the shooting has sparked widespread criticism and debate over the excessive use of force by American law enforcement.

Federal authorities claimed the shooting was an act of self-defense, but Minneapolis Mayor dismissed this justification, calling the incident ‘unnecessary’ and a sign of a dangerous shift in immigration enforcement tactics.

US President Donald Trump fully backed the immigration officers, framing the shooting as self-defense, despite polls showing over half of Americans oppose his administration’s mass deportation policies.
