Lebanese Army Announces Completion of First Phase of Weapons Monopoly in Southern Litani

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Lebanese Army issued a statement addressing the latest developments in the country amid ongoing Israeli aggressions. The statement emphasized the Army’s full commitment to exclusively assuming responsibility for security and stability in Lebanon, in coordination with other security organizations.
The Army’s statement did not outline any practical measures to halt Israeli aggression or end the occupation in southern Lebanon. However, it reiterated its dedication to ensuring security and stability south of the Litani River, preventing the area from being used as a launchpad for military operations. The mission aims to prevent the irreversible rebuilding of armed groups’ capabilities.
The statement noted that the Army’s plan for weapons monopoly has advanced to a new phase after achieving tangible results in the first stage. The initial phase focused on expanding operational presence, securing regions, and consolidating control over territories south of the Litani River. Efforts continue to clear unexploded ordnance, tunnels, and stabilize control over the area.
The Lebanese Army also highlighted that continuous Israeli attacks, occupation of several locations, buffer zone creation, and daily ceasefire violations negatively impact its mission. These violations undermine the expansion of Lebanese state authority and the exclusive control of weapons by its armed forces.
The statement stressed ongoing coordination and cooperation with UNIFIL forces and the ceasefire monitoring mechanism. Meanwhile, the Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom cited a Zionist political source rejecting the Lebanese Army’s declaration of disarming Hezbollah in the Litani region, claiming disarmament has not yet occurred.
