Nobel Committee States Trump’s Receipt of Machado’s Prize Does Not Alter Its Nature

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has clarified that U.S. President Donald Trump’s receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize from Venezuelan figure Maria Machado does not alter the original nature of the award. The committee emphasized that transferring the prize to another individual does not redefine its recipient, citing historical instances where laureates donated or sold their awards without affecting the original honor.
The controversy arose after Trump expressed dissatisfaction when Machado, the initial awardee, did not grant him the prize. Machado later transferred it to Trump, reportedly hoping to gain his favor and a potential political position in Venezuela. Trump had previously claimed Machado could not govern Venezuela following the alleged abduction of Nicolas Maduro.
Trump had actively campaigned for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his efforts to end multiple conflicts, but the award was ultimately granted to Machado.
