Explosions and Clashes in Syria Disrupt Water Supply in Raqqa

Syrian news agency SANA reports that water supply in Raqqa has been completely cut off after the main transmission lines were destroyed by QSD forces, while clashes between QSD and Joulani regime-affiliated groups escalate in eastern Syria.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the water supply lines in Raqqa were destroyed following explosions allegedly carried out by the QSD forces, leading to a complete cutoff of water in the city. Sources linked to the Joulani regime further reported that the QSD also destroyed the Al-Rashid Bridge in Raqqa, exacerbating the disruption of water transmission.

Meanwhile, Reuters cited security sources stating that Joulani-affiliated forces have taken control of the Al-Omar oil field, Syria‘s largest, and the Koniko gas field in the eastern part of the country. Explosions and armed clashes were also reported in the northern outskirts of Deir ez-Zor.

A previously agreed-upon deal between the Joulani regime and QSD forces for the latter’s withdrawal from conflict zones west of the Euphrates and east of Aleppo was set to take effect yesterday morning. However, tensions quickly escalated into violent confrontations.

The Joulani regime has accused QSD forces of executing prisoners in Al-Tabqa, a town near Raqqa, before withdrawing from the area. In turn, the QSD has alleged that Joulani-linked elements committed atrocities at the Al-Kanisa prison in Al-Tabqa.
