Anti-American Protests Erupt in Denmark and Greenland Over Trump’s Annexation Proposal

Demonstrators in Greenland and Denmark have taken to the streets to oppose U.S. President Donald Trump’s bid to acquire the autonomous territory, with Greenland’s Prime Minister joining the protests against what locals call aggressive U.S. policies.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, mass demonstrations have broken out across Denmark and Greenland in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial proposal to annex the autonomous Arctic territory. Protesters rallied under the slogan ‘Hands Off Greenland,’ denouncing what they view as Washington’s expansionist agenda.

Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen participated in the demonstrations, signaling official opposition to Trump’s territorial ambitions. The Guardian reported that senior Danish and Greenlandic officials joined citizens in condemning U.S. policies they characterize as aggressive interference.

The annexation demand has further strained already tense relations between Brussels and Washington, coming after European leaders rejected Trump’s Ukraine peace plan as disproportionately favoring Russia. As a self-governing territory under Denmark’s sovereignty and a NATO member state, Greenland’s population and government have unanimously rejected any potential transfer to U.S. control.
