Venezuela Reaffirms Commitment to Diplomatic Ties with Iran Amid US Tensions

Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodríguez condemned the US’s ‘aggressive invasion’ on January 3 as a dark stain on bilateral relations, while asserting the country’s sovereign right to maintain diplomatic ties with Iran, China, and Cuba.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuela‘s interim President Delcy Rodríguez has denounced the US military incursion on January 3 as an “aggressive invasion” that marks a dark chapter in bilateral relations. Rodríguez stated her government has chosen a diplomatic path to resolve the conflict while reaffirming Venezuela’s sovereign right to engage with Iran, China, Russia, Cuba, and other nations.

Rodríguez, who was sworn in as interim president on January 6 following the abduction of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, emphasized her administration’s commitment to securing their release. The US justified its attack on Venezuela as part of anti-drug operations, while the White House has threatened to overthrow all leftist governments in Latin America, which it considers its backyard.
