Anti-US Protests Erupt in Denmark and Greenland Over Trump’s Annexation Bid

Demonstrators in Greenland and Denmark have taken to the streets to oppose US President Donald Trump’s proposal to acquire the autonomous territory, with Greenland’s Prime Minister joining the protests against what locals call aggressive US policies.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, mass protests have broken out across Denmark and Greenland in response to US President Donald Trump’s expressed interest in acquiring the autonomous Arctic territory. The demonstrations, organized under the slogan ‘Hands Off Greenland,’ saw participation from senior officials including Greenlandic Prime Minister Kim Kielsen.

The Guardian reported widespread public opposition to what protesters describe as US expansionist policies, with tensions between Brussels and Washington escalating since Trump administration’s controversial Ukraine peace plan earlier strained transatlantic relations. European leaders had previously criticized the proposal as favoring Russian interests.

As a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark – a NATO member state – Greenland has firmly rejected any possibility of annexation by the United States. The protests highlight growing geopolitical tensions in the Arctic region amid increasing international interest in Greenland’s strategic location and natural resources.
