Iraqi Official Hails U.S. Troop Withdrawal from Ain al-Asad Airbase as Positive Step for National Sovereignty

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Abdul Hadi Abd al-Hadi, a member of Iraq‘s Coordination Framework Coalition, emphasized that the departure of U.S. troops from Ain al-Asad Airbase in western Iraq carries significant positive implications. He stated that the move reflects a unified national stance against foreign military presence in the country.
Abd al-Hadi further noted that Iraq now possesses robust security forces capable of countering both internal and external threats. He asserted that Iraq no longer requires foreign military bases on its soil and that expelling these forces will strengthen national sovereignty.
The official added that the international community has recognized Iraq’s improved security stability and its reliance on domestic forces. He described the withdrawal as a promising step toward ending foreign military presence in Iraq, particularly at al-Harir Airbase.
It is worth noting that the Iraqi parliament had previously passed a resolution years ago mandating the expulsion of foreign troops from the country.
