Iran’s Foreign Trade Sees 11% Decline in Current Year Despite Volume Increase

Iran’s total foreign trade volume rose 2% to 163.2 million tons, but overall trade value dropped 11% this year, with exports falling 6.3% in value and imports declining 15.6%, according to customs data.

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran’s foreign trade volume reached 163.2 million tons in the current year, marking a 2% increase. However, the overall trade value decreased by 11%, with exports and imports showing significant declines in monetary terms.

Customs statistics reveal that Iran exported 130 million tons of goods worth $45 billion, representing a 1.44% increase in volume but a 6.3% decrease in value compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, imports totaled 33.2 million tons valued at $49.1 billion, showing a 4.6% volume growth but a sharp 15.6% drop in value.

In related developments, customs processed 158,232 tons of essential goods within the past 24 hours, including 245 tons of red meat. During this period, 6,640 trucks carrying essential commodities were loaded and cleared through customs checkpoints.

The daily customs clearance report indicates substantial quantities of essential items were processed, including 76,786 tons of wheat, 38,724 tons of corn, 9,994 tons of barley, 10,857 tons of soybean meal, 2,793 tons of rice, 2,060 tons of crude oil, and 13,154 tons of oilseeds. Other critical goods such as pulses, medicines, and pharmaceutical equipment were also cleared during this timeframe.
