Russia Sets Condition for Zelensky-Putin Meeting, Says Trump’s Proposal Under Discussion

Russia has outlined its stance on a potential meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, confirming that the proposal was suggested by U.S. President Donald Trump during phone discussions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, stated on Wednesday that Moscow has never refused contact between Putin and Zelensky but emphasized that such meetings require proper preparation. The Kremlin insists that any dialogue must yield tangible, positive results.

Ushakov reiterated Putin’s longstanding position that Zelensky is welcome to visit Moscow for talks if he is genuinely prepared for negotiations. The Russian government has also assured Zelensky’s security should he choose to travel to Russia.

The potential meeting has been a recurring topic in phone conversations between Putin and Trump, with the U.S. president actively facilitating discussions. However, Russia maintains that substantive outcomes must be the priority for any engagement to proceed.
