Russia Warns Europe Against Cutting Gas Imports, Says It Will Increase Dependence on US

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Europe’s refusal to buy Russian gas will force it into greater reliance on the United States, while also criticizing the EU’s energy diversification efforts.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov warned on Wednesday that Europe’s decision to halt Russian gas imports would lead to increased dependence on the United States. Peskov emphasized that the EU’s sanctions on Russian gas undermine its own energy diversification goals, creating long-term challenges for the region.

Peskov further noted that the European Union’s plan to phase out Russian gas would prove problematic, as it limits the bloc’s energy security options. He also commented on the upcoming trilateral talks between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, scheduled for next Sunday in Abu Dhabi, describing them as a positive step. However, he acknowledged the complexity of negotiations regarding Ukraine, stating that expert-level discussions are ongoing.

The Kremlin spokesperson affirmed Russia’s readiness to engage in talks on Ukraine but stressed that progress depends on the constructive approach of the negotiating parties. The trilateral working group on Ukraine will continue its activities, with all sides agreeing on the need for further dialogue.
