Administrative Detainees in Ramallah Face Harsh Conditions and Legal Violations

Over 3,385 Palestinian administrative detainees, including minors, endure severe conditions in Israeli prisons, with reports of medical neglect and abuse, according to Hamas-affiliated sources.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Hamas-affiliated Prisoners’ Information Office has reported a sharp increase in the targeting of Ramallah residents under Israel’s administrative detention policy. The policy, described as repressive, has left 3,385 Palestinians detained without trial, accounting for over 36% of all Palestinian prisoners.

Among the affected areas, the village of Al-Mughayyir in eastern Ramallah has seen 38 residents held under administrative detention. The report highlights the case of two brothers, Ahmad Abu Alia (19) and Muhammad Abu Alia (18), who, despite their young age and urgent medical needs, remain detained and have faced beatings and medical neglect.

Administrative detainees suffer under indefinite detention terms, with Israel using secret files to deny them knowledge of charges or the ability to defend themselves. The situation is exacerbated by ongoing abusive policies and deliberate medical neglect. The Prisoners’ Information Office has condemned these practices as legal and moral crimes, urging international human rights organizations to pressure Israel to end administrative detention and uphold prisoners’ rights.
