Trump Warns UK and Canada Against Trade Relations with China

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump has strongly advised the UK against collaborating with China, labeling such cooperation as perilous. Speaking on Friday, Trump emphasized that both Canada and the UK should avoid entering into trade agreements with China due to the associated risks.
Trump further stated that the situation is particularly hazardous for the UK and even more so for Canada, which he claimed is currently in a dire state. He dismissed China as a viable solution to Canada’s problems.
Meanwhile, the Financial Times reported that the Trump administration has held confidential meetings with separatists from Canada’s oil-rich Alberta province amid escalating tensions between Washington and Ottawa. Leaders of the Alberta Prosperity Project (APP), a group advocating for the independence of the western province, have met with U.S. State Department officials three times since April of last year.
The group is planning another meeting next month with officials from the U.S. State and Treasury Departments to request a $500 billion credit facility to fund the province in the event of a successful independence referendum. Jeff Roth, the group’s legal advisor, stated that the U.S. would warmly welcome an independent Alberta and that he has a closer relationship with the Trump administration than Canadian Prime Mark Carney.
These developments have sparked strong reactions within Canada. Gil McGowan, president of the Alberta Federation of Labour, condemned the actions as foreign interference. Although polls indicate that around 30% of Alberta residents support secession, Premier Danielle Smith has opposed independence, asserting that the majority of Albertans have no desire to become a U.S. state.
