Venezuela Demands US Respect Its Sovereignty Amid Oil Export Restrictions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuelan protesters have called for the United States to respect their country’s territorial sovereignty following a mobilization organized by the ruling Socialist Party. Demonstrators also demanded the release of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, who they claim are held captive by the US.
The US Treasury Department, in a move criticized as violating international law, announced it would only permit Venezuelan oil exports if conducted under Washington’s supervision. The department’s statement further emphasized that any oil-related operations would exclude transactions involving Russian entities.
Previously, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that Washington would resort to force to secure Venezuela’s cooperation should diplomatic efforts fail.
