Russian Envoy Visits Miami for Security Talks Amid Ukraine Crisis

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special envoy, arrived in Miami on Saturday for high-level security discussions with American officials. The talks come amid renewed diplomatic efforts to address the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, with President Donald Trump stating that a resolution to the conflict could be reached in the near future.
The meetings follow a trilateral security working group session held in Abu Dhabi on Friday and Saturday, involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. Closed-door discussions focused on contentious issues related to the U.S.-proposed peace plan.
A new round of negotiations is scheduled for February 1. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently met with a U.S. delegation led by Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkauf.
International media reports outline key elements of the American proposal, including stabilization of contact lines, determination of the status of eastern Ukrainian regions such as Donbas and Crimea, reduction of Ukraine’s military capabilities, and prohibition of foreign troops and long-range weapons deployment in the country.
The Kremlin has previously emphasized that without a territorial resolution based on agreed frameworks, achieving lasting peace would be impossible, citing the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbas as a fundamental condition for any final agreement.
