ISIS Launches Surprise Attack on Niger Airport, Causing Heavy Casualties

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, ISIS‘s regional branch carried out a surprise attack on Niamey Airport in Niger, inflicting heavy casualties. The assault, which began on Wednesday night, involved gunfire and multiple explosions before calm was restored by Thursday morning.
Abdulrahman Tiani, head of Niger’s ruling military council, accused France, Benin, and Ivory Coast of supporting the attack and vowed retaliation. Niger’s Defense Ministry reported that the attackers arrived on motorcycles but were eventually pushed back by security forces.
During the clashes, four soldiers were wounded, while 20 assailants were killed and 11 others injured. Material damage included a fire in an ammunition depot and damage to several civilian aircraft.
