Iraq’s Shiite Coordination Framework Reaffirms Support for Al-Maliki’s Prime Ministerial Candidacy

The Shiite Coordination Framework in Iraq has reiterated its endorsement of Nouri al-Maliki’s candidacy for prime minister, emphasizing the constitutional and internal nature of the selection process amid U.S. objections.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraq‘s Shiite Coordination Framework issued a statement reaffirming its support for Nouri al-Maliki’s bid for the prime ministerial position. The group stressed that the selection of Iraq’s prime minister is a purely internal matter governed by the country’s constitution and must be conducted without foreign interference, prioritizing national interests.

The statement came in response to recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who opposed Al-Maliki’s candidacy, interfering in Iraq’s internal affairs. The Coordination Framework underscored that the decision should respect Iraq’s sovereignty and constitutional processes.
