Saudi Arabia Denies Axios Report on Alleged Anti-Iran Comments by Defense Minister

A senior Saudi official has denied an Axios report claiming the kingdom’s defense minister made anti-Iran statements, reaffirming Riyadh’s commitment to regional diplomacy and stability.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a high-ranking Saudi official has categorically denied reports by Axios regarding alleged anti-Iran remarks by Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman. The official told Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper that Riyadh’s position on regional developments remains consistent, emphasizing support for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and enhance regional security.

The Saudi source explicitly stated that the kingdom firmly opposes any use of its airspace or territory for military action against Iran, adhering to a policy of avoiding escalation. These clarifications follow Axios’ claims about the defense minister’s purported statements during a meeting in the United States.

The Saudi source stressed that such allegations do not reflect Riyadh’s official positions. Saudi Arabia has repeatedly emphasized respect for Iran’s sovereignty and warned against dangerous military actions, cautioning that any new regional conflict would impose heavy costs on all parties involved.
