Turkey Will Not Join Saudi-Pakistan Defense Pact, Saudi Source Confirms

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Saudi military source close to the armed forces has confirmed to AFP that Turkey will not be part of the defense agreement between Riyadh and Islamabad. The source dismissed recent reports suggesting serious negotiations for Turkey’s inclusion, emphasizing that the pact is strictly bilateral.
The source clarified, “This defense relationship is between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. While we have separate agreements with Turkey, this particular agreement with Pakistan will remain bilateral.”
The strategic defense agreement, signed in September 2025 during Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Riyadh, stipulates that any external attack on either capital would be treated as an attack on both nations. Bloomberg had previously claimed Turkey was considering joining the pact.
