U.S. Suspends Security Services for Citizens in Niger Amid Rising Threats

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. State Department has issued a security alert, suspending all routine and emergency services for American citizens in Niger. The decision follows a surge in criminal activity, social unrest, terrorism, and kidnappings across the country.
The department has advised U.S. citizens to refrain from traveling to Niger and instructed government personnel to use armored vehicles for transportation while adhering to curfew regulations.
Niger has faced relentless attacks from terrorist groups linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS over the past decade. Reports indicate nearly 2,000 fatalities in the country since the beginning of 2025. The southeastern regions have also been targeted by Boko Haram, a group widely regarded as a product of U.S. interventionist policies in the region.
