Russia Reiterates Opposition to NATO Presence in Ukraine

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has reaffirmed Moscow’s opposition to the deployment of European or NATO forces in Ukraine, stating that neither Ukraine’s NATO membership nor foreign military presence is acceptable.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia has reiterated its firm opposition to any NATO or European military presence in Ukraine. Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko emphasized that Moscow will not compromise on its stance, regardless of whether the forces are under NATO or EU command.

Grushko stated, ‘It makes no difference if the helmets of French soldiers bear the NATO or EU insignia. We will never back down from our position.’ The remarks follow earlier reports by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio about Washington’s plans to deploy European troops, particularly from France and Britain, to Ukrainian territory.
