Iraq’s Coordination Framework Coalition Reaffirms Support for Nouri al-Maliki’s Prime Ministerial Candidacy

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Coordination Framework Coalition in Iraq has confirmed its support for Nouri al-Maliki’s candidacy for the prime ministerial position in the upcoming government formation. Adi Abdulhadi, a member of the coalition, stated that the decision was reinforced during a recent meeting, with the group awaiting the results of today’s session to finalize the presidential selection before officially presenting al-Maliki’s name.
Abdulhadi dismissed any claims of internal disputes within the coalition as inaccurate. The coalition had previously issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to al-Maliki’s nomination, emphasizing its independence from foreign influence. This stance comes in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent opposition to al-Maliki’s candidacy, which sparked widespread criticism in Iraq for perceived interference in the country’s internal affairs.
