Iraq’s Coordination Framework Coalition Reaffirms Support for Nouri al-Maliki’s Prime Ministerial Candidacy

The Coordination Framework Coalition in Iraq has reiterated its endorsement of Nouri al-Maliki as its candidate for prime minister, dismissing reports of internal divisions and rejecting external pressures, including recent comments by U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Coordination Framework Coalition in Iraq has confirmed its support for Nouri al-Maliki’s candidacy for the prime ministerial position in the upcoming government formation. Adi Abdulhadi, a member of the coalition, stated that the decision was reinforced during a recent meeting, with the group awaiting the results of today’s session to finalize the presidential selection before officially presenting al-Maliki’s name.

Abdulhadi dismissed any claims of internal disputes within the coalition as inaccurate. The coalition had previously issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to al-Maliki’s nomination, emphasizing its independence from foreign influence. This stance comes in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent opposition to al-Maliki’s candidacy, which sparked widespread criticism in Iraq for perceived interference in the country’s internal affairs.
