Syrian Government and SDF Agree to Merge Kurdish Institutions in Northeast Syria

Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have signed a comprehensive agreement to integrate Kurdish civil and military institutions into the Syrian government, following weeks of clashes with the Joulani regime.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kurdish security forces affiliated with the SDF imposed movement restrictions in the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli yesterday. This measure comes as part of the implementation of a newly signed agreement between Damascus and the SDF to merge Kurdish institutions under the Joulani regime in northeastern Syria.

Officials from Damascus and the SDF finalized a comprehensive deal on Friday to integrate civil and military institutions of the Kurdish autonomous administration into the Syrian government. The agreement follows weeks of clashes between Kurdish forces and the Joulani regime.

Mazloum Abdi, commander of the SDF, stated that the agreement will take effect on Monday, with Kurdish and regime security forces withdrawing from ‘conflict lines’ in northeastern Syria and the city of Ain al-Arab near Aleppo. A limited security force from the Joulani regime will also enter Hasakah and Qamishli.

Muhammad Abdulghani, the internal security commander of the Joulani regime in Aleppo, confirmed visiting Ain al-Arab and meeting with SDF-affiliated security commanders in the city.
