Mahmoud Abbas Calls for Palestinian National Council Vote on November 1, 2026

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has issued a decree calling for elections to the Palestinian National Council on November 1, 2026, while also scheduling Fatah’s eighth general congress for May 14, 2026 in Ramallah.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has officially called for elections to the Palestinian National Council to be held on November 1, 2026. The decree, issued on Monday, mandates that voting take place across all Palestinian territories and diaspora communities where logistically possible to ensure maximum participation.

The Central Elections Committee has been designated as the official body responsible for administering the electoral process. In a separate order, Abbas scheduled the eighth General Congress of the Fatah movement for May 14, 2026, to be convened in Ramallah.

This development follows the Palestinian Authority cabinet’s earlier announcement on April 25, 2026, setting the date for upcoming municipal elections across Palestinian territories.
