Iran’s Intelligence Minister Reports on Recent Unrest and Security Measures to Parliament

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran‘s Intelligence Minister Ebrahim Raeisi and his deputies presented a comprehensive report on the country’s security situation and measures to safeguard it during a meeting of the National Security Committee. Raeisi emphasized that during the recent December unrest, the enemy sought to instigate street warfare to achieve urban control.
The minister outlined the Intelligence Ministry’s actions before and after the 12-day war, noting that dozens of operatives linked to the Zionist regime were arrested prior to the unrest. Significant blows were also dealt to terrorist teams in the south, northeast, and northwest regions.
Regarding the unrest, Raeisi stated that 88% of those detained were socially vulnerable individuals with limited education, requiring targeted interventions. However, the ringleaders were trained to create chaos, with the enemy employing terrorist tactics, military threats, media and cognitive warfare, and cyberattacks to undermine Iran and incite public despair and anger.
On negotiations, Raeisi affirmed that all discussions adhere to national interests and the directives of the Supreme National Security Council, with no actions outside these parameters. Parliament members stressed the need to address the root causes of unrest, prevent weapon smuggling, and hold those responsible for price hikes, particularly in the automotive sector, accountable.
