Israel Releases Chemical Substance in Southern Lebanon, UN Peacekeepers Confirm

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, UN peacekeeping forces stationed in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed that Israel released a chemical substance in the area yesterday. The Israeli military had notified UNIFIL on Sunday morning of its intention to conduct an aerial operation near the Blue Line, urging peacekeepers to evacuate the vicinity and remain indoors.
UNIFIL stated it assisted Lebanese armed forces in collecting samples from the affected area to determine the toxicity of the substance. The organization condemned Israel’s actions as unacceptable and in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry announced it is analyzing the chemical material and assessing potential negative effects on agricultural products in the country’s southern regions.
