Iran Unveils Two Space Achievements and Commences Operations at New Space Centers

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran celebrated its National Space Technology Day by showcasing significant advancements in its space program. The event, attended by Hassan Salarieh, head of the Iranian Space Agency, Communications Minister Seyed Sattar Hashemi, and Defense Minister Amir Khalegh Aziz Nasirzadeh, highlighted the country’s progress in space technology.
The ceremony featured the unveiling of a prototype for the ‘Martyr Soleimani’ narrowband satellite constellation, comprising 24 satellites. Developed by a consortium of private and public sector entities, this project has already seen the design, construction, and launch of sub-scale prototypes for testing critical systems and technologies.
Additionally, Iran revealed the ‘Paya’ remote sensing satellite, also known as ‘Tolu’e 3’. Weighing approximately 150 kg, Paya represents one of Iran’s most advanced domestically produced imaging satellites, capable of capturing images with 5-meter black-and-white and 10-meter color resolution, enhanced to 3-meter precision using AI algorithms.
The event also marked the operational commencement of the Chabahar and Salmas space centers. The first phase of Chabahar Space Center, designed for solid-fuel launchers like the ‘Qaem 105’, is nearing completion, with the first launch expected soon. Plans are underway for the second phase, which will accommodate liquid-fuel launchers from the ‘Simorgh’ family.
This year’s Space Technology Day celebrations carried the theme ‘Development Services for Economic Prosperity’, underscoring the connection between space technology and national economic growth.
