Four Million Pilgrims Expected in Qom for Mid-Sha’ban Celebrations

Qom officials anticipate nearly four million pilgrims will visit the holy city during the Mid-Sha’ban festivities, with extensive infrastructure and security measures in place to accommodate the influx.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Qom‘s deputy governor for cultural, social, and pilgrimage affairs, Hossein Mahmoudi, has projected that approximately four million pilgrims will visit the city and the Holy Jamkaran Mosque during the brief Mid-Sha’ban observance period. Authorities have prepared 165 hectares of parking space for private and public vehicles, with 10 hectares permanently allocated near the Prophet Azam Boulevard.

To enhance pilgrim safety, 400 lighting towers have been installed across parking areas, complemented by surveillance systems and monitoring cameras. Public transport routes have been redesigned to prevent traffic congestion, with expanded bus boarding locations along Prophet Azam, Zohour, and Entezar Boulevards.

Emergency accommodation for 3,000 people has been arranged along routes leading to Qom in collaboration with relief agencies, while 120 taxis and vans will transport pilgrims after ceremonies conclude. The comprehensive measures aim to manage one of Iran’s largest annual religious gatherings efficiently.
