Russia and Ukraine Hold Closed-Door Talks in Abu Dhabi Amid Ongoing Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia and Ukraine are engaged in closed-door talks in Abu Dhabi, with no journalists invited to cover the discussions. A knowledgeable source indicated that while no press conference is planned after the meetings, a final statement may be issued.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously announced that the next round of talks would occur on Wednesday and Thursday in Abu Dhabi. This follows a trilateral working meeting last Friday and Saturday, where representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the US discussed contentious issues related to the American-proposed peace plan.
Russian President Vladimir Putin met last week with a US delegation led by Steve Witkopf, the special envoy of US President Donald Trump. Foreign media reports outline key elements of the US proposal, including stabilizing contact lines, resolving the status of eastern Ukrainian regions such as Donbas and Crimea, reducing Ukraine’s military capabilities, and prohibiting the deployment of foreign troops and long-range weapons in the country.
The Kremlin has repeatedly emphasized that without a territorial resolution based on agreed frameworks, achieving lasting peace will be impossible. It has also stated that the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbas remains a fundamental condition for any final agreement.
