High-Level Russian Military Delegation Arrives in Damascus to Strengthen Ties with Syria

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a high-level Russian military delegation arrived in Damascus on a multi-day visit to enhance bilateral defense relations. The delegation, headed by Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister, was welcomed by Syrian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Ali Abdullah Ayyoub.
The visit focuses on expanding military cooperation and strengthening strategic ties between Moscow and Damascus. This follows Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent meeting with Syrian opposition figure Abu Mohammad al-Julani in Moscow, signaling Russia’s continued engagement in Syria’s transitional phase.
The Russian Foreign Ministry had previously reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness to support Syria during its political transition period. The current military talks come as part of ongoing efforts to deepen the strategic partnership between the two allies.
