UN Official Warns of ISIS Expansion in West Africa and Sahel Region

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Alexander Zouev, head of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, has alerted the Security Council about ISIS‘s expanding operations in West Africa and the Sahel region. Zouev emphasized that ISIS elements continue to carry out attacks in Iraq and Syria despite global counter-terrorism efforts.
The UN official specifically pointed to the activities of ISIS-Khorasan Province in Afghanistan, describing it as one of the most dangerous threats to regional and international security. The executive director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee also revealed that terrorist groups are increasingly utilizing virtual assets, cryptocurrencies, and artificial intelligence to further their operations.
