Russia Declares German Diplomat Persona Non Grata Amid Espionage Dispute
Russia has declared a German diplomat persona non grata in response to Berlin’s expulsion of a Russian official earlier this year, escalating tensions between the two nations.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia‘s Foreign Ministry summoned the head of Germany’s diplomatic mission in Moscow to protest what it called baseless accusations against a Russian embassy employee. The ministry strongly rejected the allegations and, in retaliation, declared a German embassy staff member persona non grata. This move comes months after Berlin expelled a Russian diplomat in January over espionage claims.
