French Foreign Minister Arrives in Damascus for Talks with Syrian Officials

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot arrived in Damascus on Thursday for a diplomatic visit. Barrot is scheduled to meet with his counterpart, Syrian Foreign Minister Aseed al-Shaibani, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing political and economic cooperation.

The talks come amid ongoing tensions in northeastern Syria between the government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This marks Barrot’s second visit to Damascus since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024.
