Russia’s Lavrov Warns Armenia of EU’s Negative Role in South Caucasus

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov cautioned Armenia about the European Union’s detrimental influence during talks with Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, reaffirming Moscow’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned Armenia about the European Union’s negative role during a meeting with Alen Simonyan, Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly. Lavrov emphasized Moscow’s interest in deepening relations with Yerevan amid ongoing challenges in the South Caucasus region.

Lavrov noted that deputy prime ministers from both Russia and Armenia remain in close contact to address regional issues. He acknowledged Armenia’s desire to maintain relations with the Kremlin but stated this stance faces opposition from many within the EU.

The Russian Foreign Minister dismissed claims by some parties about alleged Russian threats to Armenia as baseless. Simonyan affirmed Armenia’s commitment to its relationship with Russia, pledging no hostile actions against Moscow.
