Hungary’s Orbán Warns Western Troop Deployment to Ukraine Means War with Russia

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that the deployment of Western forces to Ukraine, even after the conflict concludes, would constitute an act of war by the West against Russia. He further emphasized that any foreign military presence in Ukraine would be considered a legitimate target for Russia.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has declared that if the Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) follows through with proposals for Western troops to be sent to Ukraine after the current conflict ends, such a move would signify an act of war by the West against Russia. Orbán also highlighted that Western forces would become a military objective for Russia should they be present in Ukraine.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced that Moscow would interpret the stationing of any foreign military forces or infrastructure in Ukraine as foreign interference. The ministry stressed that Russia would treat these foreign contingents as legitimate targets, deeming the deployment of Western foreign units in Ukraine unacceptable.

Earlier, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister had also underscored Moscow’s opposition to the deployment of European or NATO forces in Ukraine, stating, “We have repeatedly announced that this action is by no means acceptable; neither Ukraine’s membership in NATO nor the presence of foreign forces in this country.”
