Russia Launches Retaliatory Strikes on Ukrainian Military Infrastructure

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia‘s Ministry of Defense has confirmed a comprehensive retaliatory strike against Ukraine’s energy and military-industrial infrastructure, which are reportedly utilized by Ukrainian armed forces. The ministry stated that advanced Kinzhal missiles were employed in the operation, resulting in the complete destruction of all targeted objectives.
The Russian Federation’s armed forces also reported new advances in eastern Ukraine, claiming full control of the town of Chuhuivka in the Kharkiv Oblast. Moscow attributes the recent retaliatory actions to Kyiv’s alleged direct targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Donbas region and in Russian border areas.
Following these extensive strikes, Ukraine’s Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the country has requested emergency assistance from Poland after the state-owned power grid operator confirmed a major Russian attack on vital energy facilities. Reports indicate that two significant power plants in western Ukraine, Burshtynska and Dobrotvirska, were targeted in the recent assault.
Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s power grid operator, acknowledged that Russia conducted widespread attacks on the electricity network’s facilities. Due to the incurred damages, emergency power outages have been implemented in most regions, with restoration operations contingent on improved security conditions.
In related developments, two airports in southeastern Poland, Rzeszów and Lublin, temporarily suspended their flight operations. This measure was taken to ensure the unimpeded functioning of Poland’s military air force. Rzeszów is recognized as a primary NATO hub for the transfer of military equipment to Ukraine.
