Ukrainian Politician: Europe Unqualified to Mediate Ukraine Crisis

A leading Ukrainian political figure has stated that the European Union and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) lack the credibility to participate in peace negotiations concerning Ukraine. Citing biased actions since 2014, the politician argued their involvement would be detrimental.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the “Another Ukraine” movement, has asserted that representatives from the European Union and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) are not qualified to be involved in Ukrainian peace talks.

Medvedchuk pointed to events dating back to 2014, claiming that the OSCE has consistently acted in the interests of Kyiv and the West, thereby fueling the conflict. He emphasized that the hostile stance of the OSCE and many of its member states towards Russia prevents the organization from playing a constructive role in the Ukrainian peace process.

Despite multiple rounds of negotiations, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, with territorial issues remaining a primary obstacle to reaching a peace agreement. Both countries are striving to maintain and expand their controlled territories to gain an advantage both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.

Previously, Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), expressed hope that territorial disputes would be resolved soon. He also noted that negotiators are working on four final documents, including a 20-point peace plan, a set of multilateral security guarantees, specific U.S. security guarantees, and a post-peace economic growth program.
